The world is recording thousands of coronavirus cases, a virus called COVID-19 which first originated late last year in China. According to the WHO, the virus has now infected more than 168,000 people and killed at least 6,610 individuals. This global health crisis has left the world in a desperate vulnerable situation. Countries now have schools, churches, entertainment venues closed down, and travel limitations are being laid in an effort to curb the outbreak of the virus.
Many are those looking for solutions to arrest this pandemic but where is their fate? With all the world’s level of technology and scientists, the source of coronavirus is still a mystery. This tells us that God’s words are true and cannot be challenged by human knowledge and understanding. Job 11:7 “Can you discover the depths of God? Can you discover the limits of the Almighty?”
What then is the source of the coronavirus pandemic? The undeniable truth is that God uses certain diseases to bring punishment upon people who reject Him and His ways. We can cite a few examples in the Bible. Chapter 12 in the book of Acts gives an account of King Herod who exalted himself in being called a god and was struck down by an angel of God immediately. Today, many nations and leaders exalt themselves over their development and technology. Christianity is illegal, forbidden, or Christians are persecuted in many countries. See the list of nations being persecuted in the latest open doors report. “I will punish the world for its evil, the wicked for their sins. I will put an end to the arrogance of the haughty and will humble the pride of the ruthless”. Isaiah 13:11
God’s Wrath Against Sinful Humanity.
Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:18–23 “18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.”
The sin of homosexual intercourse is now labeled as LGBT right. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. A growing number of governments around the world have legalized same-sex marriages. Priests are blessing same-sex before the altar of God Almighty. Unnatural sex is being practiced by people and it seems normal.
Paul continues by saying, Romans “24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.
26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.
28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed, and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.”
Repent or Perish
Luke 13:4-5 is the message of Jesus to the world, under the coronavirus pandemic — a message to every single human being. Me, and you, and everybody who’s reading, and every leader on this planet earth, every person who hears about this, is receiving a warning message from God, saying, “Repent.“
“13 Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2 Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4 Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”
Conclusion
We need global repentance. The Bible says in 2 chronicles 7:14 and I quote, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”.
