“To transgender and gender-nonconforming people across America and around the world: from the moment I am sworn in as President, know that my administration will see you, listen to you, and fight for not only your safety but also the dignity and justice you have been denied.” Biden’s tweet on Nov. 20, 2020.
These promising words from Biden seem to be a fulfilling one indeed. The shadows of his words are now being the reality the church should show concerns.
According to the Pew research, a poll conducted suggests that gay people are now and would be the third most influential people in America. Statistically, they cover a total of 60% to gain influence over the next four years. Thus saying, as long as Biden is the president of America, it would be hard for such a group to lose its influence.
Also, on the other hand, there is a clear contrast between the LGBT influence and the Christian evangelical. Per the people that took part in the online survey, most of them suggested that the Christian community is likely to lose their influence on the administration of Biden. In a sizable margin, evangelical Christians are expected to lose much influence. 50% of them say so while just 9% of them are expected to gain influence; 39% in support of appropriate maintenance of influence.
Whether statistics or not, “Protect LGBTQ+ people from discrimination and support LGBTQ+ youth”. These are the two of Biden’s bulletin programs for Homosexuality. Things seem to be working for them while overshadowing the Christian’s faith and standard. In the horrible loss of Trump (the American Christian bulmark), many Christian conservatives have shared a positive and a negative impact of four years of Biden’s administration. Some of them are saying that as a Catholic, Biden would prove them worry in improving and giving the Christian community more opportunities. Well, we are yet to see it or not. Others too believe things would be messy for the Christian community.
The US Conference of Catholic Bishops has raised concerns on the wide-ranging executive orders of Biden to improve, protect and expand LGBT. They said that every person in America is entitled to the right to “gainful employment, education and basic human services free of unjust discrimination” and that the right should be protected. In adding to their points, they made claims that this right is fundamental but to abuse it is different. Explaining to Biden that he has exceeded his decision.
The Bishops said that Biden’s executive orders on the LGBT threaten the standard of the Christian faith.
“It threatens to infringe the rights of people who recognize the truth of sexual difference or who uphold the institution of lifelong marriage between one man and one woman.”
If the Catholics believe this, then Biden who is a Catholic should believe it also, but why is he shifting focus?
Words of Encouragement…………
As scary as the story is, if LGBT might harm the faith of people in the Biden era, should the church worry or should see this as an end time thing?
Looking at the bigger picture from the Christian perspective, I will simply say it’s reminding us that we are in the end times. Jesus has already warned that “as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. ‘For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark‘” (Matt. 24:37-38, referencing Gen 6-7)
The Bible hints that at the end of the age, homosexuality will become increasingly evident (2 Timothy 3:3; Luke 17:26); indeed, “Gay Rights” has become a worldwide trend.
“Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.” (Luke 17:26)
You may wonder what the days of Noah have to do with same-sex marriage. (LGBT). Homosexuality has become increasingly visible in culture, moving from acceptance and normalization to celebration and promotion. This is happening in every area of life, from education to entertainment, from the media to the marketplace, and from cities and counties to courts and churches.
I believe that Christ Jesus said these words specifically to today’s church as we are in need.
“Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming—in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning— lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping. And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!” Mark 13:35-37 [NKJV]
Things may get tougher as time moves on but know for sure that “all things work together for good to all those who love God, to those who are called according to HIS purpose”. Therefore the church should “count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.
