On March 15th, 2023, it was reported by a UN spokesperson that Boko Haram, a terrorist group in Nigeria, attacked and killed over 30 fishermen and farmers in the village of Dikwa located near the Sambisa forest, an area known to be a stronghold for the group.
Boko Haram’s presence and activities are largely concentrated in northern Nigeria, where they have been carrying out an insurgency for over a decade. Despite being divided into two factions, the group appears to be regaining strength after their territory was significantly reduced in 2015, the year they pledged allegiance to Islamic State and formed the Islamic State West African Province (ISWAP).
We ask that you pray for the families affected by these attacks, as well as for the safety of those living in Nigeria amidst extreme violence. Let us also pray for wisdom and discernment for the Nigerian government in their efforts to combat terrorism, and for an end to this insurgency.
