Prayer March 2020 which took place in National Mall on the 26th of September 2020, brought about a day of remembrance and restoration to the people of America, as thousands of people attended Franklin Graham’s ‘Prayer March,’ which went from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol Building. Prayer March 2020 was a power-packed movement. Many people from a diverse range of cities gathered to pray and seek God’s guidance in this time of uncertainty.
America, a faith nation, has now turned into a treacherous nation; having abortions, instant justice, a violent nation, and lost sheep. A moment like this is what America needs to find their faith back in God.
Prayer March 2020 started off from Lincoln Memorial with a surprise visit from America’s Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence. During Pence’s remarks at the movement, he said, ‘Today at this Washington Prayer March, you continue a great American tradition.’ He added to the fact that this is not the first time Americans have to seek the face of God in challenging times.
Former U.S. Representative Michele Bachmann (Minnesota) prayed from Psalms during the first stop on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. Bishop Harry Jackson continued to encouraged participants that irrespective of the challenges they are facing, God is hearing them and that they shouldn’t give up on this good fight they have started. Bishop Harry then quoted from Psalm 68:1.
They continued their movement to their second stop at World War II Memorial. At this stop, Graham was joined by Ret. Lt. Col. Oliver North (U.S. Marine Corps); Myron Lizer, vice president of Navajo Nation; and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, these people prayed for the protection of God upon all armed forces men and their families. The third stop happened on Washington Monument were special prays were prayed to God for the purpose of renewed strength in our families, solutions to the coronavirus and an end to abortion, and also the salvation of the lost. Pastor Skip Heitzig, Jerry Prevo (acting president of Liberty University), and Kelvin Cochran joined Franklin Graham to pray this special prayer.
At the fourth stop, a prayer was said for all White House members ranking from President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, their families, and all of those who work in the executive branch of government. Darryl Strawberry, a former Major League Baseball standout, shared an impassioned prayer for compassion, kindness, and racial reconciliation during the fifth stop of Prayer March 2020. This stop took place at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. Darryl Strawberry was joined in prayer by Pastor Jentezen Franklin and Alveda King.
The sixth stop happened near to the National Archives where Pastors Robert Morris and formerly imprisoned pastor Andrew Brunson were joined by former U.S. Representative Frank Wolf of Virginia prayed for religious boldness upon America.
The last stop of Prayer March 2020 happened near the U.S. Capitol. Congress, government leaders at all levels, the Supreme Court, and other judge positions nationwide were the focus people on the prayer list. “You have poured out Your blessing on us, but God, we have not been faithful to You,” Anne Graham Lotz prayed. Franklin Graham ended the prayer by asking those in attendance to turn and stretch their hands toward the U.S. Capitol building as he prayed.
“Father, we pray right now in Jesus’ name for the men and women that work there on Capitol Hill, that make the laws that affect this nation. We pray that You would move in the hearts of those men and women.”
Americans are being urged to continuously pray for their country as crucial days lie ahead of them.
