A 24-year-old Christian woman was killed in Rawalpindi, Pakistan after her parents rejected a marriage proposal and an invitation to convert to Islam by two Muslim men.
The International Christian Concern (ICC) said that the two men involved in this murderous act; Muhammad Shehzad and a man named Faizan. They shot and killed that woman, Sonia.
Sonia was confronted and killed by these men on her way to work at a garment factory. Prior to Sonia’s family reports, they say that Sonia had been harassed by Muhammad Shehzad for the past six months and had even tried to force the woman into a physical relationship. She refused the man’s advances due to their differences in faith.
According to CBN, Shehzad had tried many times to propose to Sonia to marry him and convert to a Muslim. Reports had it that Shehzad’s family had even tried to negotiate a marriage deal with Sonia’s family yet she and her family had refused their proposal.
“A few days before the incident, Sonia was again harassed by Shehzad,” Allah Rakha, Sonia’s father, told International Christian Concern (ICC). “Since she was a committed Christian she did not betray Jesus and sacrificed her life for her faith.”
“We are being harassed and pressurized to withdraw the case against culprits,” Rakha continued. “However, I want culprits brought to justice.”
Police officers have been able to arrest the man Faizan on Sunday but still on the ground looking for Shehzad as investigation on this matter continues.
This is time for Christians to stand and hold steadfastly to our professions.
